◆ Raw Materials

PLA (polylactic acid) is a biopolymer made using dextrose (sugar) derived from renewable plant resources, such as sugarcane, corn, sugar beets, wheat, etc. PLA is BPI & OK COMPOST certified compostable.

CPLA Cutlery stands for crystallized polylactic acid cutlery. The PLA material is crystallized during manufacture, which enables our CPLA cutlery to have better strength, higher heat-resistance, and a nicer appearance than regular PLA cutlery.

A: Yes, customization is available for all our CPLA cutlery range.

Q: Is it possible to get a sample?

Q: What’s your MOQ and lead time?

A: Our MOQ for CPLA cutlery is 200,000pcs/item/design. Lower MOQ negotiable.

  The lead time is about 30 days after the order confirmed and the deposit payment received.

Q: What’s the payment term?

A: Our standard payment term is T/T, 30% deposit + 70% balance against the copy of B/L. Other payment terms negotiable.

Q: What’s bio-based cutlery?

A: Bio-based cutlery is the disposable cutlery which is made from bio-based material. Bio-based material is an organic material in which carbon is derived from a renewable resource via biological processes.

Q: What is CPLA Cutlery?

A: The raw material of CPLA cutlery is PLA resin. After the PLA material is crystallized during manufacture, it can resist to high temperature up to 194F. Compared with regular PLA cutlery, CPLA cutlery have better strength, higher heat-resistance and nicer appearance. The “C” stands for crystallization, a critical production process that makes the cutlery resist to high temperature up to 90C/194F.

Q: How long does it take for CPLA cutlery to compost?

A: CPLA Cutlery can be composted in industrial/commercial composting facility within 180 days. However, its degrading rate may vary when put into different natural environments.  

Q: Is the bioplastic cutlery suitable for home compost/backyard compost?

A: Yes, bioplastic cutlery can be commercially composted. They are not suitable for home compost/backyard compost as they need the controlled conditions (humidity, aeration, temperature) of aerobic composting for quick and safe compost production.

Q: What’s the custom mold cost & lead time?

A: Prototype Mold: USD 250/item(non-refundable); lead time - about 15 days after payment received and drawings confirmed

Production Mold: USD 3,500/item(refundable); lead time - about 35 days after payment received and drawings/prototype samples confirmed

Q: Can you produce custom color bioplastic cutlery? What’s the MOQ?

A: Yes, we can do custom color CPLA/corn starch cutlery. The MOQ is 400,000 pcs/color/item.

Q: Can I have my brand/logo embossed on the cutlery handle?

A: Yes, custom embossment is available by custom tooling.

Q: Is Bisphenol A used in bioplastics?

A: All of our products are BPA-free. We are committed to avoiding the use of harmful substances in our products.

Q: What’s the shelf life for CPLA cutlery?

A: Our clear cups, bowls and cutlery have a 6-12 month shelf life at least and must be stored below 35ºC. Do not store in direct sunlight, near heat sources or heaters. Our bioplastic bags have a 6-month shelf life from purchase and must be stored out of direct sunlight and below 35ºC.

Q: Can I have custom combination of cutlery sets?

A: Yes, you can choose from any of our stock components and specify the desired combination of items for cutlery sets. For example, fork+napkin, knife+fork+coffee spoon+ napkin, knife+fork+spoon+napkin+salt&pepper packet, coffee stirrer+sugar packet, etc.

Q: What kinds of custom options are available for napkin?

A: We offer a few standard size options for napkins. Except for the stock sizes, we can customize the size for you with custom print brand name/logo on it. You can choose either white napkin or unbleached natural brown napkin.

Q: Can I print on the cutlery wrapper?

A: Yes, we offer custom print on our plastic/paper/bioplastic wrappers. The MOQ is 100,000 sets/item.
